The Perfect Hero

(I have a winner for my July/August random drawing, which I'll post as soon as the person gets back to me).

Now, lets have some fun!

This week I've started on my new WIP, book 2 of Her Majesty's Secret Servants. I'm so excited to be exploring a new city - Cambridge, England - and delving into what is a whole a new topic for me - the emerging sciences of the early Victorian Age.

My hero, a marquess and a dabbler in the sciences, can best be described as dark, sexy, quirky and brilliant. I always like to have a visual for the men in my books - having a real man in mind gives me an entire catalogue of facial characteristics, expressions and body language that I can draw on as I write my scenes.

I'm wondering who will fit the bill....

Cary Grant - so suave and sophistocated, a true charmer, yet always able to laugh at himself.

Harrison Ford, the smart but rugged adventurer, always heroic and ever confident.

Hmm...Hugh Jackman, impossibly gorgeous - especially in period garb - and with an endearing touch of boyishness to complement his smokin' hot masculinity.

George Clooney, thoroughly modern, both a man's man and a ladies' man, a perfect example of understated elegence.

Daniel Craig...what can one do but sigh? He can dodge bullets, save the world, love a woman, all without wrinkling his clothes or spilling his vodka martini.

Ah, Gerard Butler, the down-to-earth yet out of this world Scot with the piercing blue eyes, melodic voice and a smile to melt your heart.

Who should it be, ladies? Shall we put it to a vote? Are there any nominations from the floor? Who makes your heart race and your bosom heave? Let me know who fits your image of a perfect hero and be entered in my next drawing!

I will take one of each, please! ;)

Seriously, for your book's hero I would pick Harrison Ford or George Clooney.

Hugh Jackman is the only one of those who fits the *scientific* part. The others all seem like action heroes or socialites to me. Did you see Jackman in "The Prestige?" That's even set in the Victorian era!

I vote for Cary Grant. He was so suave and charming and he played a paleontologist in "Bringing Up Baby."

I LOVE Bringing Up Baby!!! Exactly what I was thinking when I included CG's picture.

But Jennifer is right - so hard to choose!

Allison, you picked all great men. I think each of them are leading men. I've certainly had my heart beat faster by all of them in their chosen mocies. Gerard Butler in "300" and "P.S. I Love You" showing both his hot manly side and his soft side. Daniel Craig is just all around HOT!!! I just love all your choices.

So many excellent options make it hard to chose, but my first choice would be Cary Grant (HUGE fan of Bringing Up Baby and Operation Petticoat) and second choice would be Hugh Jackman. The story premise sounds intruiging and I'm looking forward to hearing more about your WIP and when it will be released.

They are all very handsome and good actors in their own right but I think Hugh Jackman seems the best fit for your hero.

Allison, What a choice! If you're putting a top hat on him, I'd have to go for Gerard Butler. I have another suggestion: Richard Armitage. Did you see him in North and South? He looks yummy in period costume.%20void(0);
